Texas real estate agent charged in Capitol riot – HoustonChronicle.com
A Texas real estate agent who bragged on social media about storming the U.S. Capitol in a riot last week has been charged for her involvement.
Jenna Ryan, a licensed real estate broker based in Frisco, was charged Friday with disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds and knowingly entering a restricted building or grounds without lawful authority, according to a criminal complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
Ryan filmed herself live on Facebook inside of the desecrated Capitol building during the riot, which left five people dead, according to federal investigators.
“Life or death, it doesn’t matter,” Ryan said on a live video as she entered the Rotunda, court records show. In the same now-deleted video, investigators say Ryan identified herself by name and turned the camera on herself.
“Y’all know who to hire for your realtor. Jenna Ryan for your realtor,” Ryan said in the video, according to court records.
Ryan describes herself as a conservative radio host and Trump supporter. Social media posts show she took a private jet to D.C.
Ryan made it clear through social media posts ahead of the chaos that she intended to “storm” the Capitol, the complaint says.
A photo of Ryan in front of a smashed window of the building read, “…if the news doesn’t stop lying about us we’ re going to come after the studios next…,” court records say.
Once inside the building, investigators say Ryan was seen and heard on her live video chanting, “This is our house!” “Fight for freedom!” “USA!” and “Here we are, in the name of Jesus!”
Hours after storming, Ryan posted on Twitter “we just stormed the Capitol. It was one of the best days of my life.”
Two days after the violent riot, Ryan said she did not “condone the violence that occurred … and I am truly heartbroken for the people who have lost their lives.”
It is unclear whether Ryan has been arrested on the charges at this time.
